Is your immune system taking a beating? Maybe you are tired of feeling under the weather? Have you had the sniffles, sneezes and a tickly cough for what seems like weeks on end? Maybe, you have even had this awful Australian Flu that seems to be doing the rounds up and down the country and even globally.
Do you take vitamin supplements to support your immune system?
Have you heard of BioCare?
Well if you haven’t and what to know more you are in luck. BioCare asked Very Mummy to take part in a review of their latest supplement ‘Immune Intensive’.
As a mum* to two beautiful daughters, working part-time, being a wife, and living with the usual daily life stresses it certainly can take its toll on my immune system. Personally, my immune system is weaker than most, because I take immunosuppressant medication because I have a lifelong condition called Ulcerative Colitis. As a result of this, I do have to supplement my immune system and be reasonably savvy when it comes to illnesses, that may cause me harm.
Stress can affect our immune system. Some experts claim that stress is responsible for as much as 90% of all illnesses and diseases.
Psychology today state “The way it does this is by triggering chemical reactions and flooding the body with cortisol that, among other things, decreases inflammation, decreases white blood cells and NK cells (special cells that kill cancer), increases tumor development and growth, and increases the rate of infection and tissue damage.”
So being proactive and supplementing your body with additional vitamin and minerals will help strengthen your immune system.
Chris Newbold , Head of Clinical Nutrition from BioCare says: “There are many different ways we can support ourselves during winter season, but for your immune system to function properly, it needs to be supported with good nutrition…our diets today do not always contain the sufficient levels of the required key vitamins, nutrients and minerals we need to maintain a strong and healthy immune system…. specially formulated supplements can help you get back on your feet as quickly as possible.”
I was sent BioCare’s Immune Intensive 7 day Pack. The box contains 7 sachets. It has a RRP of £16.45*, each sachet/day costing £2.35*. You can purchase online via their website or Independent Food Stores

At the time of doing this review, I was in reasonable health. I have had a minor cold which didn’t really develop into anything sinister, but I did have a congested nose, and a tickly cough. Certainly, could do with a boost to ‘get me up back on my feet’.
After receiving the product, I started my 7-day course on the 19th January 2018. The first thing that caught my eye was the colour of the powder it was a cosmic, deep, purple colour- rather pretty I thought.
The aroma wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad by any means. I added the powder to a glass of apple juice. I was a little apprehensive about what it would taste like with just water. So I went with the tasteful option. I will try water for day 2. I did have to stir for a while to dissolve the small lumps. Surprisingly, it was actually pretty easy to drink, I could only lightly taste the apple juice at this point. I could certainly pick out the elderberry and sage flavours, and a taste of blackberry. The flavour was pleasant and very palatable.
On the second morning, I added the powder mix to a glass of water. I did struggle to drink it solely with water but then again I find it hard to take tablets without a pint of water. I gag when I take anything dispersible. The taste again was pleasant. I do prefer it with juice though.
By day three, I’m certainly feeling like I have a bit more energy, whether the supplements are the result of this, I’m not sure, but it’s definitely a good feeling. Fewer coffees. Still, have a cough – although slightly more productive.
Now day 7 and I have finished the 7-day course. Adding the powder mix to cranberry juice was the tastiest for me. I actually enjoyed drinking it. I have to say although I was skeptical at the beginning, I actually genuinely feel like I have more energy. My skin looks quite bright, usually dull, lifeless and very tired looking. My remaining cold symptoms have vanished. Whether that is a result of the ‘high potency’ vitamins or coincidence I don’t know.
Highly recommend this product for a pick me up when your feeling run down. Long term, it could be quite pricey at £16.45 a week (7 day supply).
Thank you BioCare.
